Day 6, Saturday, May 2: Cleeve Hill to Dowdeswell

We had a lovely stay last night in the Cleeve Hill Hotel just outside of Cheltenham.

Today was a very easy 6 mile walk from Cleeve Hill to Dowdeswell. Kathy’s cousin, Yvonne Woolridge, joined us for the walk. Yvonne walks the hills above Cheltenham regularly and is very familiar with various pathways. We enjoyed having her lead us along today.

We encountered wild garlic today in abundance! We came over a hill top and I could smell it immediately. The white flowers and the green of the plant are gorgeous. The plant was everywhere along the path. The white flowers are used in salads for a touch of garlic taste. The taste is fabulous. We picked the white flowers and ate them. It was such a great adventure for the taste buds!

We saw a rocking climbing and rapelling area today just above Cheltenham. It would be so much fun to have Doug and Ryan, Scott and Zac Danielson, Bishop Halladay, Ray Chipman, Nich and Lance Cloward join us for some adventures here on these rocks.

After arriving at the B&B (Langett) at Dowdeswell reservoir we took a short walk around the reservoir. The area is so peaceful and calm. The undergrowth, the trees, and the birds all make such a lovely setting for a peaceful walk.

This was a very enjoyable day!
